Description

The REDS Assistant Guide supports the Guide in fostering a peaceful, respectful and developmentally responsive learning environment.  Working in partnership with the Guide, the Assistant Guide helps maintain the prepared environment, supports the independence of the children, and contributes to the collaborative life of the school community. The Assistant Guide serves as a role model for children, demonstrating patience, kindness, integrity, and respect in all interactions.

Key responsibilities 

  • Supporting the Guide in the maintenance of the prepared environment, ensuring materials are ready, organized and accessible to children. 
  • Collaborating with the Guide to support the functioning of the classroom and the well-being of the children. 
  • Creating a peaceful, respectful social experience during the children’s lunch. 
  • Ensuring outdoor play is safe, joyful, and prosocial.  
  • Contributing to a culture of respect, collaboration, and ethical responsibility.

Role in the Community 

Assistant Guides are an integral part of the school community and help cultivate an environment where children, families and educators feel welcomed, respected and supported.  Through their daily presence and interactions, the Assistant Guides help sustain REDS’ culture of care, collaboration and ethical practice. 

Salary Range $50,000 - $80,000 with the higher range for those with the most experience and education. 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an area related to early childhood education.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Strong oral, written, presentation and phone skills; communicate clearly with children, families, and staff. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and similar technology for creating Montessori materials, using virtual meeting platforms, and completing electronic forms in website portals. 
  • Demonstrates teamwork, supporting classroom staff, and maintaining professionalism. 
  • Works effectively and respectfully with people of all backgrounds, modeling inclusive and culturally responsive practices. 
  • Organized, reliable, and able to maintain accurate documentation (attendance, observations, incident reports).
